Tourism minister, Marthinus van Schalkwyk. (SABC) Business tourism will boost the South African economy over the next five years by R2.6 billion. This emerged at the conference of the South African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI) in Port Elizabeth on Monday. Tourism minister, Marthinus van Schalkwyk, says South Africa is ranked 37th on the list of the world’s top business events. “Tourists coming for business events spend more per capita because they come for the event itself.
